道教有很多的神明，其中包括自然山水之神，如王母娘娘、太上老君、元始天尊等；历史人物，如黄帝、张陵、李白等；光明神、福寿神、财神等吉祥神明和道家教义、修行、防护之神，如三元五老、四御天官、东方君主等等。不同的道派和地区有所不同，同时很多神明也存在不同的地位和职责。
Taoism has many gods and goddesses, including the gods of natural landscapes, such as the Queen Mother of the West, Laozi, and Yuanshi Tianzun; historical figures such as the Huangdi, Zhang Ling, Li Bai, and auspicious gods such as the gods of light, longevity, and wealth, as well as protective deities in Taoist doctrines, such as the Three Prime Elders, the Four Imperial Officials, and the Eastern Emperor. The gods vary depending on different Taoist schools and regions with different positions and responsibilities assigned to them.
