The philosophy of Taoism emphasizes the idea of harmony between humans and nature, and holds that all things are composed of the Tao. From this perspective, individuals may have a certain degree of autonomy, but ultimately, their will is constrained by the decisions of the Tao. Therefore, within Taoism, there is not a concept of free will in the absolute sense.
However, Taoism also promotes the ideas of individual consciousness and self-reflection. Through cultivation and practice, individuals can gradually grasp their own lives and destinies, achieving inner balance and purification. This perspective could be seen as a supplement to and transformation of the concept of free will in Taoism.
